Dr Deks Dekenah | Dentist / Studio Owner
Dr Dekenah acquired a Bachelors in Medical Science, before qualifying as a Dental Surgeon in 1981. He received the Middleton Shaw Colgate Prize for the best research paper presented as an undergraduate student at the 14th meeting of the International Association for Dental Research held in Cape town in 1980. He has been the convener and chairman of the Steenberg Orthodontic Study Group since 1996. He is also a founder member of the esteemed Two Oceans Dental Study Group and belongs to the Cape Town Dental Study Group. He acquired a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry cum laude from the University of Stellenbosch in 2001. He is also a member of the South African Dental Association (Western Cape Branch). Dr Dekenah is also qualified in treating facial lines with Cosmetic Botox Treatment and Dermal Fillers.
Dr Paul Bodenstein | Dentist
Dr Bodenstein graduated with his B.Ch.D in 1988 from Stellenbosch University. He has practised in Claremont for the past 20 years and now joins Dr Dekenah at Smileline. He brings his vast experience in all areas of general practice including Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Implants, Cosmetic Dentistry and Minor Surgery. He has a special interest in Orthodontics and is also a member of the Steenberg Orthodontic Study Group, the Two Oceans Dental Study Group, the Paedodontic Society of South Africa and the South African Dental Association.
Dr Liezl Kemp | Dentist
Dr Kemp graduated with her B.Ch.D in 2007 following her studies at Stellenbosch University and the University of the Western Cape during which time she was the recipient of an award for Orthodontics. She is currently doing a Post Graduate Diploma in Paediatric Dentistry in which she has a special interest, alongside Orthodontics.
Roné Steynberg | Oral Hygienist
Roné originally obtained a Diploma in Food Service Management from the Technikon of the Free State in 1994 before completing her Diploma in Oral Hygiene at the University of Stellenbosch in 2002. She too has a keen interest in Orthodontics.
Marlize Bartlett | Oral Hygienist
Marlize completed her Diploma in Oral Hygiene at the University of Stellenbosch in 1997. She also holds a 2005 Certificate for Completing Extended Functions (in Oral Hygiene) from the University of the Western Cape, as well as another 2005 Certificate for Training on Fibre Reinforced Composite Restorations from Stickbond Dental. She has a special interest in Periodontics and has worked in a specialist practice for 6 years. She also specialises in Tooth Whitening procedures and is a member of the Oral Hygienist’s Association of South Africa (Western Cape Branch).
Lorén (Kanna) Kaiser | Dental Assistant – Dr Dekenah
Kanna is originally a Drama Graduate of the Academy of Drama and Art, but began working as a Dental Assistant during her studies, gaining hands-on experience in the field while completing a part-time course in Dental Nursing from the Home Study College of South Africa. She travelled abroad extensively and perfomed locum work in London until 1996 when she returned to South Africa. She continued providing locum Dental Assisting services before accepting a permanent position as Dr Dekenah’s chairside assistant in January 2008.
Halina Zielonka | Dental Assistant – Dr Bodenstein
Halina has been a Dental Assistant in South Africa since 1988. She originally hails from Poland and is currently Dr Bodenstein’s chairside assistant.
Amy-lee Gründer | Dental Assistant – Dr Kemp
Amy obtained her Dental Assisting/Nurse diploma in Cape Town in 2008 and is currently Dr Kemp’s chairside assistant.
Denise (Beryl) Human | Practice Manager
Beryl is the Practice Manager at Smileline and handles the studio’s administration as well as the appointments for Dr Dekenah, Dr Kemp, and Roné.
Lynne Cumming | Receptionist
Lynne works alongside Beryl in the Studio’s reception area and is responsible for handling Dr Bodenstein’s and Marlize’s appointments.
